Four Easy Homemade Dog Biscuit Recipes

Four Easy Homemade Dog Biscuit Recipes

We all want the best for our furry friends. Sometimes, that includes giving into those puppy-dog eyes when they want a treat (and honestly, who can blame them?). However, it can be so difficult these days to find safe, healthy, and affordable dog treats to satisfy their taste buds. The solution? Homemade dog biscuits! Making dog treats at home will allow you to control exactly what you are feeding your pup, so that they can enjoy a treat without the negative consequences such as potentially harmful ingredients or weight gain (as long as these treats are given in moderation, of course).

To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of four simple, healthy dog biscuit recipes that you can make right at home.

1. 3-Ingredient Frozen Dog Treats

These three-ingredient dog treats are Bailey’s favorite! All that’s needed is 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of Greek yogurt, and 1 banana. You can also switch the banana out for any other dog-friendly fruit. Bailey likes hers with blueberries!

Simply blend the ingredients together, pour into a silicone mold, and freeze for 2 hours. Easy-peasy!

Note: make sure the peanut butter and Greek yogurt you use do not contain xylitol, which is an artificial sweetener. It’s considered toxic to dogs.

2. Peanut Butter Dog Treats

This recipe has a few simple ingredients: 2 ½ cups of whole wheat flour, 1 egg, 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 cup of water, and 2 tablespoons of honey. Plus, if you want to go above-and-beyond for your best pal, this recipe even includes a decorative peanut butter frosting!

Combine all the ingredients into a dough, roll out, cut with a cookie cutter, and bake for 18-20 minutes at 350°F.

3. Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats

This recipe requires 2 ½ cups of whole wheat flour, 2 large eggs, ½ cup of canned pumpkin, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. The cinnamon is optional.

Combine all the ingredients into a dough, roll out, cut with a cookie cutter, and bake for 40 minutes at 350°F.

Note: be sure to use ground cinnamon, and not cinnamon oil. Cinnamon oil is extremely concentrated, so the excessive amount can lead to extreme digestive issues. Furthermore, avoid switching the cinnamon out for another spice such as nutmeg; nutmeg is toxic to dogs.

4. Peanut Butter, Banana, and Oat Dog Treats

These super-simple treats only require 2 cups of oats, 2 bananas, and ½ cup of natural peanut butter.

Use a food processor to grind the oats into a fine powder, then combine with the bananas and peanut butter. Roll out the dough, cut with a cookie cutter, and bake for 25-30 minutes at 300°F.

Note: if you don’t have a food processor, you can use a blender. The oats won’t be as finely ground, but they will still work.

Happy baking!
